Pepper harness training

When Pepper was 11 months old she would growl and try to bite when a harness was put on. To help her learn, the trainer primed all three dogs with chicken, then held a piece of chicken in hand while slipping the harness over Pepper's head. The chicken, hidden from view, served as a distraction. After the harness was on, the chicken was placed on the floor, allowing the trainer to clip the harness on without fuss.
A week later, Pepper was already standing still while the harness was clipped, no longer needing food to calm her. Even at four years old, a single kibble still encourages her to put her head through the harness, but she now accepts the clip calmly. This video is part of a broader leash walking, pulling, and reactivity online training program for beagles, designed to help owners teach their dogs to wear harnesses comfortably and safely.
